Thanks to social media, we have more insight into the lives of the rich and famous than ever before. Follow the celebrities on Twitter, Instagram or Facebook and you’ll instantly be updated with details of their nights out, shopping purchases and exotic holidays. Looking to celebrities for style inspiration is nothing new, and replicating their glamorous lives by booking similar holidays is an increasing trend. So why not follow the lead of the rich and famous when booking your 2017 summer holiday?

Cuba

Madonna filled her social media pages with pictures of her birthday celebrations in Havana, Cuba last summer, and the thawing of relations between the US and Cuba after 50 years of tension means that this is now an attractive destination for tourists from all over North America. It remains to be seen how the situation develops with Donald Trump taking office in January 2017, but if you’re looking for a Caribbean holiday with a difference then Cuba could be the perfect choice. Combine some sightseeing and partying in downtown Havana with a week relaxing on the beach in Cayo Coco or Varadero.

Greece

Power couple Victoria and David Beckham spent their 2016 summer holidays in the Greek islands, and shared dozens of photos with their millions of followers. Greece is a value for money and accessible destination from the UK, and as Greece is part of the EU you can benefit from extra benefits such as fewer customs limits and EHIC emergency health cover. Consider Kefalonia for a relaxing, beach based holiday or if bars and nightlife are more you’re thing, Malia on Crete or Faliraki of Rhodes are popular with the party crowd. Ferry connections between the islands also make an island-hopping holiday popular with those who want to see lots of different islands on one trip.

Italian Coast

Jay-Z, Beyonce and their daughter Blue Ivy spent a week during summer 2016 cruising around the Italian coast on a million dollar superyacht. Although their budget is larger than most, you can follow in their footsteps by flying into Naples and booking into a small hotel or apartment on the stunning Amalfi coast. Make sure you take a day trip to the island of Capri, which has been popular with the jetset since the 1950s. Sardinia is another popular choice with the A-list, and has accommodation to suit all budgets and preference.

French Riviera

They’ve recently announced that they are to divorce and sell their French villa, but Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have spent extended periods at their chateau in Provence for many years. The Riviera resorts of Cannes or St Tropez have a reputation for being pricey, but head a few miles inland and you’ll find accommodation which offers much better value for money, along with pretty villages, vineyards and stunning countryside. Avoid the crowds and head to the beach at Theoule-Sur-Mer which is less popular than the main beaches in Antibes or Cannes. You can fly to the French Riviera direct from many airports in the UK, into the airports at either Marseille or Nice.
